Igualment he preferit traduir la frase “And every kind of beast” per “I bèsties de tota classe” en lloc d’“I qualsevol classe de bèstia” perquè semblava més popular.

Finalment, en el cas de la frase que diu que s’acabaren les inundacions, he triat el verb remetre (per a la versió en valencià) perquè em semblava, fins i tot, ja assimilat per la parla de part de la població, encara que poguera semblar culte. En eixe sentit, la diversitat de vocabulari és interessant en el procés d’aprenentatge d’una llengua.

Finalment afegiré que Sally, Kitty i Kimeo m’han semblat noms imaginaris i que, a més, ajustaven a l’esperit de la cançó, encara que en la lletra de la mestra figuren Kitty i Kimeo estiguen en minúscula. La forma “penny winkle” m’ha semblat convenient traduir-la per “caragolet”, ja que van unides la paraula “penny” (‘penic’) i “winkle” (caragol), és a dir, un caragol menut, de la mateixa manera que nosaltres diem “de quatre perres”, per a indicar que és econòmic però no que eixe siga el preu del producte.

Notes: He fet dos ajusts lingüístics. El primer, traduir a doodle (‘un gargot’, ‘un dibuix’) en sentit figurat, un gest. I el segon, optatiu (per si algú vol posar-se a tocar-la o a cantar-la amb guitarra o sense), posar entre claudàtors ([ ]) un verb que originàriament es pot traduir d’acord amb el text, però que em semblava que, en un arranjament o, fins i tot, en una traducció al valencià, també podia aparéixer sense el verb, com és el cas de quan diu, per exemple, the cow began to whistle and the pig began to dance (‘la vaca començà a xiular i el porc començà a ballar’).

Recordem que més d’una volta, com a mínim, en cançons per a xiquets, és molt corrent posar el verb la primera vegada  (en el nostre cas, començà) i ometre’l les següents, quan l’acció dels elements (ací, la vaca i el porc) són les mateixes, en este cas, començar.
